The FI can be made reliable and fun to drive with just a little effort on your part; all you need to do is post whatever problems you're having, if any, here, and we can help you work thru them. To answer your question, there are LOTs of reasons that you don't want to try to install a 63 engine in your 70. Here are a few of them: The 70 engine has the bosses for the rear mount crossbar. The 70 engine has dual port heads. The 70 engine has the dual oil relief valves and larger oil passages. The 70 engine has a larger oil cooler The 70 engine has cam bearings. The 70 engine is 12 V. The 70 engine has a larger oil pump. The 70 engine has a larger clutch disk. The 70 engine is 1600 cc. The 70 engine has a cross drilled crank. The 70 engine has the larger generator. Plus, with the 70, you get fuel injection! -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
