This one has the curved upper edge which would fit the dash only up thru 70. The later ones are almost straight across the top. This one also has a large rectangular opening which requires a separate faceplate for the radio. This makes it a very late one; in fact, I'm surprised to see that combination of the curved top and the rectangular cutout. Earlier holders were cast metal, with chrome plating and black paint in places. These would have been for the early dealer installed Sapphire units. The photo that Greg Banfill posted is of this type, which is more appropriate for your 6V car, even though I didn't know what year you have. Blaupunkt radios came with completely different mounts which consisted of a metal bracket (or 2) a vinyl shroud, and a chrome faceplate. These are rare, sought after, and expensive. The shroud will almost certainly be damaged by now. Only a Blaupunkt radio will fit in this arrangement. There were probably other brands of radios with installation kits made for them. Grundig and Becker are possibilities, but I've never seen one of these, so I don't know what they might have looked like, or if they even existed. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
