The .009 distributor and the blue coil are downgrades.  Same with the dual 
carbs., if you have a stock engine with FI.  Why waste money? 

One thing to keep in mind is that 99% of the aftermarket parts available are 
junk when compared to original VW stuff.  So don't throw away those original 
parts. 

I can appreciate any car in excellent condition.  I would say that applies 
to 1% (or less) of the customs out there but probably 50% (or more) of the 
stock cars.
