Unfortunately the starter mounts on the wrong side to do it. I know, because
I have an 89 Fox here. That was one of the first things I thought about doing
though, except using the type3 fan and cooling system with it. : ) Since then
the car has been relegated to parts storage (for my type3 stuff), and I've
been concentrating of finishing my type3s.
