I suppose there are several possibilities, but I'd check 2 things first: Put a voltmeter on something in your fuse box so you can watch the voltage WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, just to verify that it's not a charging system problem. Put a pressure gauge on your gas test port (between injectors 3 & 4 on your 72) and watch the pressure WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, just to verify that your pressure is being maintained. With a short hose on the gauge, someone in the back seat can watch this for you. Clamp the hose so you don't pull it off while driving. There are a number of things that could cause this, but it is most likely to be caused by a clogged fuel filter, leading to a loss of fuel pressure when the fuel demand is high. Is your fuel overflow hose in good condition? A broken hose here is often the cause of dirt in the gas which eventually blocks the filter. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
