Dwell is the amount of time, expressed in distributor shaft degrees, during which the points are closed. On our engines the dwell should be 45-55 degrees. This can be measured with a dwell meter, or roughly with a feeler gauge to set the points gap. The dwell meter is more accurate, but the feeler gauge is usually adequate. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
