In that case, you either got a bum rebuilt generator, or the DF wire between 
the VR and the gen might have chafed thru its insulation somewhere and is 
occasionally shorting to ground.

What year was this? Up to about '70, the wiring harness runs along the left 
side just inside the LR fender. If this car has been hit there, you might 
wonder about this. If your harness runs under the deck, then it is pretty hard 
to damage. You might still want to follow along and check where it rubs against 
things in case something has moved out of place and rubbed.

At this point my money would be on the bum generator. Most rebuilds come with a 
6 month warrantee, so you ought to see if you can send it back.
