This reminds me of my problem.  The new VR I bought was a Bosch solid
state one.  The flyer that came with it (the one the guy in the store
handed me) said that it is a replacement for the old type.  It was
cheaper and I figured that since it was more modern might be a little
bit better.

Could this be the source of my problem?
