Thanks Jim, I will tread carefully and try to work it out. The one I have
has a copper bodied thing that looks like it might have been an ancient type
of diode, but the other one has just a wire which I don't understand as
obviously the wire would let the current flow in both directions! I guess
the diode has to go somewhere else. Do you really think it needs to be a 3A
diode? Wish me luck !
