Is it a tool that i can get at my local > flaps at all? I have a metric tool catalog that calls this an M8 XZN driver. I suspect that's its correct name, but I've never seen that designation anywhere else. They are available at NAPA, and may be called something like an 8mm Torx, or star driver. If you ask at the counter they should be able to guide you to the right tool. You want a driver that you can use in a ratchet wrench, because you will need to torque these when you're done. Russ is right about cleaning out the socket. You will want to MAKE SURE that the driver is ALL THE WAY DOWN into the socket before you try to loosen those bolts. I usually clean them out with a small screwdriver, then tap the XZN driver in to make sure it is all the way down, then add the handle and twist. VW used this style of driver in a couple of different places, including head bolts for the Rabbit, but those were a larger size. DON'T try to do this with an Allen wrench. It will strip out the bolt head. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
