I have no idea why it is green.  It's identical to the black ones in terms 
of the markings, etc. 

I have a bunch of parts I recently found in New Mexico.  The previous home 
owner used to run a VW/Porsche shop out of his back yard.  The parts were 
all just thrown on the ground in a separate room of his workshop. 

I guess this means he was a hack mechanic, he would just throw any parts he 
didn't like into this room.  These caps included.  Better than the trash!  
All the "good stuff" was long ago bought up by other VW people but they 
always leave the Type 3 parts.  ;)
