I just spent toady fixing/replacing the steering column bracket(not sure of the technical name). The thing that connects the steering column to the dash, ignitions goes in here and the turn signal switch goes above it on the steering column. The original bracket was cracked/broken where the third bolt clamps it to the steering column. Well I guess somewhere in the history of the vehicle someone changed the ignition, because the "plug in" thin for the ignition wires had it's ends soldered on. So there was no way to remove the ignition from the bracket, without cutting the wires, and resoldering. Does anyone know where to get these "extra long" spade type connectors? I would like to do this properly eventually, and crimp a connection on. While taking this apart I hoped to clean up the turn signal switch-currently it doesn't work. I cleaned it's connections-but it still doesn't work. The emergency flashers work-inside and out. But when I hit the turn signal switch the inside light comes on steady-but nothing outside. Any suggestions as to where the problem could be? Thanks for nay advice... -kevin '65 kombi '71 sqbk somerville, ma ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
