<x-charset UTF-8> Now there has been a long line of superchargers and turbos on type 1 engines, with the Judson supercharger being the most common. Of course, those were made for the 1300, but they effectively doubled HP, and ran forever if properly maintained. There are some good reliable turbo kits available for the type1 (see www.lowbugget.com), and I have seen quite a few custom jobs on busses and dune buggies. The important thing with these is to be able to retard the timing. Kit Carlson has invented an awesome new FI brain that Jake Raby is looking into producing for his motors- using stock or HP throttle bodies. Jake did some amazing dyno pulls with a 2.5L type IV using this system, huge torque and HP #'s. The tech is out there to make these things more reliable and higher performing than ever before, it's just a case of time and money. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ </x-charset>
