Does it work when you push the nub both up and down? Does the tab on the back 
of the steering wheel look okay?

Maybe the TS swttch guts just needs some fresh grease in there. Perhaps a drop 
of oil worked in with the old grease would help.

I'd work on the L/R difference and try to figure out why it works one way and 
not the other.
