I think most people still have the original systems, the majority of those probably have some problems, however.
To be honest, I'm very surprised how well it does work. Once I'd got it going, it seems to be a very simple system that really works.
As for the switches, they have to be plumbed a certain way. If you reverse the connections they ALL leak.
Now there's a piece of useful info that is missing from all the manuals. I didn't throw my old switch away, but on the other hand, I'm not going to take the new one out and test the old one.
I think that up to about '67 none of us used the spare for pressure. It was
only in '68 that we got the hose from the spare. The weird hose was probably a
way to adapt the early style system to use the spare for pressure.
Here is a pic of the hose.

And here is a pic of a whole kit, icluding the correct bottle for a Type 34, the cradle that holds the bottle and the weird hose. Is this what the early Type 3 used?

The early system works well, but just not for long. Once you've used up about half your fluid your pressure will be down by more than half, so the long term performance suffers rather quickly.
I've been wondering abnout that. Obviously, as the water is used up, the pressure goes down. Hasn't happened to me though yet, even though I've tested it quite a lot.
