The shift coupler is the swivel thing getting caught. It is attached to the shift rod by a sleeve with a screw through the middle of it. I found that I needed a pair of pliers to grab the end of the sleeve while I undid the screw (the screw is hex headed). It's one of those jobs you have to do on your back, under the car, where you cann't quite get a proper grip on the sleeve and you cann't turn the screw properly because there is no space, so it's frustrating and takes a while. This step is not mentioned in Bentley. The screw connecting the shift coupler to the tranny is indeed square headed with a hole in it for the locking wire. I don't know what ize it is, I just used a small shifter to undo it. Seeing as you will have to pull it out, it's probably worthwhile replacing the rubber inserts in the shift coupler. These will help to make gear changes feel alot sharper. Check your existing ones and see how big the holes where the pin goes through are, I bet you'll find that they are stretched.
