Jim, the slight tint isn't a problem at all, it's more of a domestic "factory 
tint" (for A/C equipped cars) type of shading. The first one I got like that 
was back in 91 for my Fastback (now my wife's car). It's really nice, and it's 
not very noticable, except when compared to the other clear windows on the 
car. I've had or put one like that in three other type3s since that first one, 
and plan on doing so for my next windsheild replacement.
I don't know why the sun hits that spot either, but it would be nice if there 
were a way to cover that spot (between the visors).
