If you get 100K out of your heads between rebuilds, consider yourself lucky. Yes, the lower end was better, due to the thru-bolt mains and better oiling. The early 1700's had a problem with the cams going flat especially on the mechanical fuel pump lobe. I still have T-2 pump rods laying around that the end is worn off. They make great punches. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
