[T3] Dave and Matt's notch update - silly
<x-flowed>Hi All
Well, we have made only a very little progress since we last shared
comments with you. Matt was focused on successfully completing grade
11, which he did, while Dave mucked about with the other rear-engined
car for some days at PIR. Things have been moving along, nonetheless.
Our new friend and type 3 enthusiast Steve has cut up a squareback so
we are looking forward to getting some sills from him. That will be
really cool. And we did manage to get all the bolts undone and the
body can now be separated from the pan. We have welded a "cage"
inside the shell so that it won't collapse when we pick it off the
frame, which we will do this week. Also, we managed to buy a running
type 4 engine with an aluminum case ($60) so we might look down the
road at using it. After all, we have disk brakes so we might as well
add horsepower... I mentioned in an earlier e-mail that while we were
originally going to do a bone stock restoration it seems that like
writing a novel the character takes its own head. We'll see where
this goes. I've added a couple of pics to our on-going saga and a
movie of the Notch on its way between garages.
