I would go with a mig with argon/co2 gas.
 Buy a name brand welder like...lincoln or miller...The lincoln ones 
aren't too pricey,

You could get a real cheapie no-name from Harbor Freight, but I wouldn't 
recommend it; might be tough to get service and parts.

Oxy -Acetylene would be my second choice, but it is real easy to heat up 
the sheet metal too much and get some very creative buckling of the panels. 
This is a little less likely if you just do little spot welds and jump 
around the seam so no one area gets real hot.You could also braze the 
panels with the torch using a little less heat than for welding.

Arc/stick welding is an "art" on sheet metal.
When I tried, my results were less than stellar, and if I didn't blow holes 
though the panel, I created some real ugly "bird-crap" welds.
If you become proficient with a stick welder this would probably not be an 
issue. I am not, and I think it takes a lot of practice to get good.

Using a mig welder is almost as easy as using a hot glue gun, it just makes 
a bigger mark when you get some on you :)

Also, make sure to grind away all the rust before you start to weld or you 
will be greeted by copious spitting and popping of molted iron oxide.

Get an auto darkening face shield too..they are a great convenience.
