I have never seen a case cracked in that area. The only time I have had success welding, is when it was damage from another failure like a broken valve or broken rod. The good thing is, that there are plenty of used cases running around. I don't have one right now for an IRS T3, but I am sure someone does. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
