If the sheet metal around the hole is flat, and the hole is nicely round, they 
won't fall out. All my daily drivers have had them, and they've been there for 
decades. They only fall out if you use that hole to pry the pulley around when 
doing a tuneup.

I use a Sears ratcheting box-end wrench on the generator nut, so this problem 
just never comes up. When I'm rebuilding an old engine I always tap that sheet 
metal back into shape before I repaint it.

I have several of those plugs in stock. I've been saving them for about 25 
years. At prices like this I'm considering selling them.
