JoshuaB=> In 2003 at the sacramento bug o' rama most => of the race cars had 009 distributors Really? The fast guys that I know are using complex electronic modules these days, with rev limiters, etc. And maybe my memory is failing, but I recall seeing references to the 009 mod in late '60s magazine articles. => some early porsches and vw buses came stock with them. This was also 'common knowledge' on this list before it was disproven to my satisfaction (a couple of years ago, wasn't it?). => The real issue is what works better on the street. I'll go along with that. => A 009 basically works similar to a stock distributor => without the vacuum lines hooked up. If 'basically' means 'in principle,' fine, but if you mean this at all literally, I've tested many distributors myself and the results vary quite a bit; an 009 does not work as well as the 010 or *any* stock carb, *with or without* vacuum, on my car. The curve matters. Steven Ayres, Prescott AZ '66 Big Ghia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
