FI gives good response across the whole rpm range, while the stock twin carbs work better as rpm increases, and there's that nice induction noise with the carbs. I get slightly better mpg from the carbs in the Squareback than the FI Fastback, but acceleration is better in the Fastback, and it's smoother below 30mph in top than the Squareback. I wouldn't change either - they're best kept the way they were made. Don't swap out an original black Bosch coil for a modern blue one - they are much lower quality. My '71 still has its original black Bosch one and it's fine. Dave.
