Ok, thanks for your honesty. I know I'm not the only one out here who keeps
asking themselves "if it works for me, why is it so terrible?" You've answered
that, thanks.
I'll be honest too, I'll give up the 2.5 to 3 mpg for and engine that runs
very good from the first turn over in the morning, and all thru the afternoon
or on a particular trip. It's also nice not having to wait on the chokes during
that late afternoon hop to the party store for some cold ones, and just
hitting the key (without touching the gas) upon exit of the store, or heading to
it. I've had friends tell me my Notch starts better than their new FI cars. : )
By the way my Solex's have their chokes turned off too (wide open), but then I
don't drive my type3s in these cold temps anymore, as I prefer to let the
salt eat my domestic car (dedicated winter beater).
