I don't recall seeing spiral fins (all the fins I've seen were straight alum, cast in place on the steel tube) but its certainly possible that they are out there. It's not one of those things one gets to look at every day.... The one that shows the internal restriction looks to me like it has had a modified repair pipe welded on. That's the way I do it, too.
