Munched exaust valves is a valve guide wear problem,
Actually,My belief is that when I replaced my rotted HE's with new from CIP,I failed to notice that were two different HE designs. The one on #3+#4 were of different inside diameters than the ones on #1+#2.VERY restrictive.Almost 1/4" smaller! When this was brought to the attention of a support person at CIP,he said "let me check that".Needless to say,no answer was forthcoming. Anyway, while it may increase heat on the exhaust valve in a gently driven stocker,it seems to be deadly to a 2110cc.The heads were brand spanking new, bigger valves, blah, blah blah. Heat cares not a whit.If it can't escape it's gotta burn something. In my case,#3 valve snapped off, danced on the piston until it got access to the crank and then lodged itself in the upper inside corner of the case.
and the guides are still tight.
heat could wear the
guides faster but its usually that the geometry is not properly set or that
they just plain wear out. 20PSI is Low..
At idle?
. of course it depends on how old your engine is but they see about 40 hot at the bearings at 3400
I see about 60psi at about that rpm.
