Micah=> I'm pretty sure any automatic type3's => were autostick, yes? Type 3s never came with the autostick trans. All true automatics. => were not all/most Squarebacks 68 and newer FI? => So that if they have carbs, they have been modified, right? Yes, and no. US-spec cars were all FI after a certain point because of emissions regs. But since then many cars have come into the US from Europe and Canada, and they could have stock dual carbs or even single carbs. If this is concerning the car you're thinking of buying, it should be fairly easy to spot a non-stock modification -- wrong-looking wires, wires chopped off, parts cobbled together from different times, things that don't quite work, leftover holes for FI parts, like that. Several members here have Websites with engine bay photos that will help in this. If that car has an autostick, just run away.
