Hi;
I saw your web site and thought I'd contact you. I'm an American stationed in Germany and I'm restoring a 1969 Type III 1600L Automatic "Notchback" (savana beige with a brown interior). It is an all original, German specification model with twin Solex carbs. It was owned a German woman since new and only has 70,000 km (documented) on it now. We drive it almost daily and it has always been garaged. I'm new to type III's so am having trouble locating parts (parts for this car are very expensive in Germany and hard to locate). I'm planning on an engine overhaul (as soon as the oil sample results from Blackstone Labs confirms the need) so I'd like your opinion. I'm leaning towards a stock longblock from Gene Berg. Can you also recommend German or equal quality parts suppliers in the U.S. for steering, suspension, carpet, and rubber parts? Thanks.
