I find that the main problem with points is a distributor cam that is worn and 
rough. Once this happens, the points' rubbing block wears quickly and you can't 
keep the points in adjustment. This can be fixed with a dist rebuild, which is 
cheaper than an electronic ignition.

Once you have a good cam in your dist, the way to KEEP it good is to clean and 
grease it at every tuneup. Don't let abrasive dirt build up on it. Even if you 
don't replace the points, clean off the rubbing block and put a dab of fresh 
grease on the cam.
