I just have to nudge it back a squinch to make it work again. I suspect that it's just a matter of the mechanism being worn a bit, so that the lever can move farther than it should so that the contacts touch and then move completely past one another. I think there are really just 3 contacts involved: one in the middle and one to each side. There's probably a moving contact which normally just sits in the middle but then bridges between center and left or center and right when moved to either side. It could be that the moving contact is worn somewhere, or that the edges of the center contact are worn, or that something that should be spring loaded is sticking. I'll take mine apart one of these days and see if there's something that needs to be cleaned up or freed up or bent, or just replaced. These have several fragile parts in them, so I never throw bad ones away. They often make good organ donors for repairing others. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
