	If he was slammed from behind, his seatbelt probably had very 
little to do with anything.  What happens is the car suddenly gets 
shot forward upon impact... which means the seat gets slammed 
forward, and the poor guy's body all of a sudden isn't going as fast 
as the accelerated car.  The seat mounts aren't strong enough to 
accelerate him, so they fail, and the car keeps shooting forward 
without him.

	Did he have shoulder-only belts with no lap belts?

	Beetles can eject drivers out the rear window when hit hard 
enough from behind. :(
