thanks Steven, i recall the cogs being in decent shape, but the dog did flop around 
quite a bit. it's been a little over a year since i had the distributer pulled, so my 
memory, or parts could have failed/worn since then.

i'll attend to it after getting some more important stuff sorted, like ousting the new 
production cloth covered fuel hose for some decent quality standard stuff.
