Since I wrote my last message, I went and had a whiff of GL-5 and ATF, and I actually think that the leak smells more like ATF+crud that GL-5+crud. I'll still open up the diff hole, just in case. As to where it's coming from, I don't know yet. Do you have to drain the ATF before removing the governor cover? In other words, will loads of ATF flood out if I don't? I have a full set of gaskets for an auto-tranny, so I assume the governor-cover O-ring will be in there.
