Push the thrust washer sideways with a screwdriver - if it slides it's fine, if you can do it with your fingers it's too loose. Check the rock at the wheel is just noticeable; spin the wheel to listen for any humming which would suggest a worn bearing. I'm a bit wary of Lange - if the outlets have perforated inner cones it's good. If it doesn't it'll be noisier than it should. Leistritz is always good quality, and of course VW stamped will fit and most likely do twice the time. Make sure the heater box tubes are in good order - it's very difficult to remove the muffler intact after that joint has rusted solid. Dave.
