Well, I neglected to mention that he didn't replace the pan, he used another 
street sign to repair it, which he riveted over the hole. 

I have a feeling that, in his mind, he came to some sort of satisfactory 
conclusion to the event.  One of your signs hurts my car, then I take down 
one of your brother signs to fix my car.
