[T3] FI Fuel Pump

I was having trouble with my FI fuel pump so I pulled
it..opened it and cleaned it out...it worked like a
charm, but once I put it back I didn't seal it I guess
because it leaked all over the garage...my question
is...does gas go into the can where the motor
turns...this seems weird?..and if so how should I seal 
it up...I don't think that rubber washer is going to cut it?
