I suppose one might be expected to make fixes once you got the part in hand, but usually the parts list showed notes if changes, or additional parts, would be needed. There are no notes here. There's also no distinction made for AT vs. MT, which we know were different, so this gives credence to the idea of a "universal" replacement pan. > All the pedal attachment areas will be opposite for lhd/rhd. Okay, right. It's clear that RHD would need the opening on the RHS of the tunnel. Did RHD pans have additional fittings spot welded to the bottom of the pan on the right side of the RH driver's floor? I guess I'm surprised that the pans weren't nearly univeral RHD/LHD. Don't I recall correctly that the hole for the RHD master cylinder is already present in at least part of our sheet metal down there? > > OTOH, it's rather surprising that they supplied pans at all. With the cheaper labor rates back then, they were much more likely to repair something rather than simply replace it. I'm still having a hard time visualizing a case where the pan would be beyond repair, and yet the body would still be in good enough shape to make replacing the pan worthwhile. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
