Re: [T3] Transmission number

<x-flowed>>> So I found ANOTHER number on my transmission, this one in slight
relief.
113 301 105 (or maybe 103; hard to tell by the corrosion) and then what
looks like the letter L

Doesn't the 113 mean Beetle?

Yes, the '3' is for Super Beetle. The casing is the same, and that's the part
number of the case. The engraved letter/number on the flat ground panel near
the front of the main case gives the transmission code and serial number. It's
not well documented, though I thought I had seen it posted somewhere recently.

Actually, the "3" in 113 does not mean "Super Beetle", the "113" number has been around far longer than the Super Beetle. As far as I know "113" means the higher-end "export" Beetle, as opposed to the "111" standard bug. That numbering really lost its original sense over the years, though.

I believe that for Super Beetles there was a "131" part number code.
