[T3] Ignition weirdness.

<x-flowed>So I couldn't start my car this morning.

Noticed I left my inside left overhead lamp on (the one where you push the lens to turn it off and on). The car had been sitting a prob. couple days, like this. Nuts, drained battery.

But I had 12.5 V with the ignition off with the VOM hooked to a hot fuse. Hooking the VOM to a switched fuse, I noticed the voltage drop to around 10 when I went from the ON position to the start position with the key. However, the gen and oil indiator lights DID dim when I turned the key from on to start.

My solenoid worked fine when I hotwired it, as did my starter. My coil wire was tight as well as the distrib cap wire. I checked ALL connections and they were good.

Lights worked fine. All connections on VR were good. All connections on gen were good.

So ignition switch right? But here's the catch. I got the car started by running a wire from B+ to the coil, then hotwiring the starter. I disconnected the hot wires and drove to my studio where all my tools were.

Now everything is fine. Car starts up with the key no problem.

Muir says that if the car can't get at least around 9V at startup, there isn't enough power for the ignition AND the FI system to get going. Is that what happened here?
