Re: [T3] Speedo question

<x-flowed>

Interesting site, but I always thought that the sidewall percentage was
85% if it wasn't specifically called out (like on our 165/15 stock
tires.) I know we have had this discussion before but don't remember
the final conclusion. I will have to run out and measure the
circumference of one of Sophy's stock tires and back calculate what the
percentage is.

Anyone know for sure what the sidewall percentage is?

I just went out and looked at mine. Coopers 165R15 M&S 86T
I always thought stock tires were 75's.
Maybe I am wrong.

Ok, found one site the had a pretty definitive statement about the whole subject. See below.

http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tires/tt101.htm

"The most common metric radials for these cars are 80 series profile, sidewall 80% as tall as the tire is wide. Unless otherwise labeled on the tire, radial tire profile will be 80 series by default (and never taller then 80%), and the speed rating will be "S" (106 mph 10-minute run) by default. So when you see 165R15 on a tire it means the same thing as 165-80SR15. "

This also jives with my measurement of the one of Sophy's tires that measured out to right around 25.4" in diameter.
