<x-flowed>I opened the speedo when I did a cosmetic restoration on all the 
gauges. There was no evidence of it ever having been opened before. I 
don't have the car's birth certificate but the VIN # suggests it was 
probably built in April, definitely not as late as June.

My guess is that the MPH speedo design changed sometime in the middle 
of the 65 model year and that old stock of the previous design was 
still being used up, leading to some inconsistency in what the cars 
were originally equipped with.
