Re: [T3] I'm seeing spots!

<x-flowed>I opened the speedo when I did a cosmetic restoration on all the gauges. There was no evidence of it ever having been opened before. I don't have the car's birth certificate but the VIN # suggests it was probably built in April, definitely not as late as June.

My guess is that the MPH speedo design changed sometime in the middle of the 65 model year and that old stock of the previous design was still being used up, leading to some inconsistency in what the cars were originally equipped with.

You may may be right that the new speedos came out with the last of the 65
cars, a March instrument date would probably show up in a car that was made
in June or later. You ever have your speedo apart? there may be a sticker
in there that tells more... when cars had their speedos changed they marked
them inside. Its also possible that the guts were changed out and the
original case used.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Was that true of all 65s or was there a mid-year change? My speedo is a
10-30-50-70-100 and is stamped 3/65 just like all the other parts on
the car. It wasn't a gray market car, it's a tourist-delivery car set
up for US specs at the factory.
