hi "Solid mounts will transmit a LOT of extra noise to the body of the car. I have a few good spares of these rubber bits from cars which I have parted out." sad thing is i think that the rubbers you have jim are probably past there best i think part of the distinctive rear end drop we get on our cars is these rubbers giving up. that and a combination of tired torsion bars. i agree to a certain extent with the possible transmission of noise as looking at it you would think that that is what would happen however it has made no noticeable difference to a freinds car and if you think about it a bug never had any of these rubbers if your engine is still mounted with rubber mounts rather than solid then surely this is where the noise will end? i just need my car to handle well with 2.2 typ4 it can get to speeds that just plain scare me and where stability is everything a car pulling into the fast lane on the autobahn doing a steady 120kph when im pulling 180kph can give you some trouser filling moments and it needs to pull up true and square when the anchors are applied . with as little wobble as possible. i thank you very much for the kind offer but it is an area of body stiffness that i will resolve once and for all at little cost noise wise i beleive with solid aluminum dougnuts. mfg neil verdon.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
