I have what looks like a "universal" rear license
plate bracket (according to CIP1 catalog). The two
screws that are supposed to attach to the rear lid are
much too close together for what is currently there:

{_____o_o_____} <- bracket looks like
____ ___ ____
{____o___o____} <- what it should look like?
Am I looking at something wrong? Is this not correct
for my '71? I am not taking a drill to my lid! :)
