Today I took my first ride in a Type 3 in at least 27 years (maybe 28-29)! Just around the neighborhood since I really only had use of the back brakes. I just couldn't resist. Man, how awesome... The automatic really does shift beautifully. I was skeptical, but you folks on the list were right... Smooooth. And what a difference from my old bug! Much more mannered... A real "adult" car from VW... I replaced the rear shocks & bled the rear brakes today. I was going to replace the master cylinder because I thought the whole system was dry, but when I went to remove one of the fittings, fluid started coming out... So I figured I'd try just bleeding the system. The first fluid that came out the rear right wheel was just about black, but it eventually turned almost clear when I pumped enough of it through. Hopefully tomorrow I'll do the front (I think one of the calipers is sticking as well) and take him for a real drive (probably to work...ugh... just a few miles away though so it should be a good test)... ===== -------------------------------------------- 1971 FI AT Squareback http://www.tiserves.com/VW/ vw_variant71@yahoo.com -------------------------------------------- __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
