I actually got a set from Berg once that had all the oil rings oversized. I filed them down and then complained to Berg, but they insisted that I should have just sent them back and that they couldn't do anything once I had messed with them. Other than that one odd incident I've never had to re-size any of mine. The Bill Fisher book talks about checking and gapping them, but Berg claimed that this should never be necessary. It's certainly possible that tolerances have slipped over the years, however. I was not aware that John thought this was necessary. I suspect you don't have anything to worry about, especially for street use with a quality manufacturer like Kolben-Schmidt. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
