Almost 900 emails later and I'm back. I upgraded (ahem) my Windows 2000 Pro operating system from service pack 3 to service pack 4. And promptly lost my ability to access the internet, and thus email. Hal helped me with some major networking and virus cleaning on my system but alas it wasn't a virus or worm slowing my system down, it was Microsoft :-( Anyway, I now have a good firewall installed (Kerio...it is free) and another friend, Ed, installed a nice anti-virus/worm software package on my system (Norton anti-virus). So I'm not worried about infections, transmitting or receiving. I discovered that if I keep my network cable unplugged until the Windows logon screen, then plug it in after logging in, I have normal network connectivity. I'm not about to go thru 837 emails, which is roughly since mid-August, so if anyone had any questions directed to me please resend.
