There were different parts originally supplied for FI and dual carbs, but they
must be very similar and the FI ones will work with the OE Solex manifolds. If
you have something different you may have a problem. All of these pieces are
hard to find but very important. It might be possible to make your own parts
since these are almost completely flat.

I have a 73 that came to me converted to carbs. Those same parts were also
missing and that engine had gotten so hot that the main crank seal had turned
hard and cracked in many little places all around. It leaked oil badly, but
replacing the seal AND those plates made a big difference.

I had a VERY similar experience 15 years ago at a local FLAPS. When I asked for
a thermostat for my squareback he gave me an odd look and told me that they
didn't have thermostats, because they didn't have water. I persisted, and he
revealed that he had suspected his coworkers of putting me up to this just to
make a fool of him. We settled it rather simply when I showed him the picture
in his parts book, and I think we both got a good chuckle out of the
experience.
