<x-flowed>I have one of the corner stone pins as a replica. They were mostly given to prominent guests at the corner stone factory foundation ceremony on May 19th, 1938.

There was an article on the corner stone pins in VW Trends many years ago, probably around 1994-96. It also told the readers how to identify the real ones from repros.

looks like "1938"  to me. makes more sense.
