I guess I thought the loud engine was "normal," as it's about the same noise level as my old bug, until my dad and I got the fastback here started. That thing sounds WAY quiet, even with the engine compartment open. Maybe I just need a new muffler on the Square? > If you have loose parts, like a loose heat shield on > an OEM muffler, that can > make a lot of noise, but maybe you have other > problems. It sounds like it runs OK (as opposed to the terrible knocking sound I'm getting on the fastback when I hit the throttle -- bearings?), but just the concept of getting that engine up to that speed, coupled with the loudness of it, freaks me out... Maybe I'm just being a wimp. :) And my apologies for hijacking this thread... ===== Aaron Clow - http://www.tiserves.com/VW/ '71 FI AT Square - On the Road '71 FI AT Fasty - Off the Road '71 AT Square - the Parts Bin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
